When you hand over the coupon, just say.. "Well your advertising sure is working! It brought me in today." Just make sure that when you use a restaurant coupon, the tip for the server is based on the gross amount BEFORE the coupon. Servers usually get the short end of the stick when a coupon comes into play. Remember, people with money are usually tight with a buck. That's why they have money! If it’s happening a lot, and it’s really bothering you… try this. When you hand over the coupon, just say.. “Well your advertising sure is working! It brought me in today.”

IF AT A RESTRUANT: People sometimes fail to tip the waiter correctly. From my understanding you should tip them the same percentage as what it would have cost without the coupon, so that might be the negativity there. (Not that you don't, but most people fail to do this, so they're probably assuming you would do the same.) I would NOT let it bother me. It’s YOUR money. I’m sure if it was them they would be using that coupon!
