Is Outback Steakhouse worth it?

outback steakhouse
Alpha Male asked:

I’m thinking about where I should go to dinner with the extended family tonight. It’s between Outback Steakhouse, Chilis, TGI Fridays, Applebees, and Fuddruckers. We’ve all never been to Outback Steakhouse, but we hear there’s a very limited menu. We’re most probably not going back to TGIF (we went last week). We hear Chilis the best of them all, and Applebees is just another Chilis, but not as great. Some of us have been to Fuddruckers (I haven’t), and those some say that we should try Outback. Thanks in advance and God bless.

I **** Outback Steakhouse. Their food is not that good and they charge WAY too much for their food. I like Applebees, Fuddruckers is okay… i’ve never been anywhere else that you listed.. but my favorite place to eat out is Olive Garden

The only problem I have had there is..
I’m allergic to mushrooms and there was a shrimp dish that had mushrooms and i asked to have it w/o mushrooms.
the order was messed up and it was convered in them. I wouldnt have complained if there hadnt been mushrooms.
The waiter was extremely nice and paid for it.
    other than that..
    Its amazing!

I say narrow it down to Outback or Chilis. Chilis is cheaper, but Outback is great food. Burgers are around 7 bucks at Outback if memory serves me correctly. They have a Bloomin’ Onion appetizer, and it is absolute heaven. There’s a lot of fat in it though, so don’t eat a whole one, like I have a few times. ;) They’re both delicious restaurants, so if it was up to me I’d say go to Chili’s and save a few bucks. In hard economic times every dollar adds up. Plus, it’s your extended family so it’s going to cost way more that usual I’m assuming.

I don’t know about limited menu but I think it’s pretty expensive, then you have to look at other things 1. Do you want to go where there is alcohol, smoking, a T.V, loud music or loud in general, I’m not talking about just outback but all of them, fuddrucker’s is pretty cool though. Hope this helps.

  11. Kathleen says:

Love the blooming onion. I think they have a reasonable menu but since most of those restaurants aren’t in Canada, I really can’t compare.

My only advice is to look up the menus online and make a decision from that.

  12. abdulmalak_atl says:

if you go to outback try the blooming onion.

  13. Laura Kate says:

YES YES YES YES YES YES!
So you understand what im saying, right?

Because you’re going as a group, i would get this big onion in the shape of a flower thing as a starter (bloomin’ onion) for everyone to share. It tastes really good and i don’t normally like onions. Then you should get a steak or ribs definately. They are too amazing! If you’re going to get dessert, then share the ‘chocolate thunder from down under’ with one other person and you will honestly be full but happier than ever!

    YES YES YES YES YES!

    hope that helped!

    I love Outback Steakhouse,it is a little pricey,but i love their steaks.They have good ribs,and chicken too.

  17. lhargrave89 says:

I don’t think Outback is very good there are other steakhouses that are way better.

  18. Bella Luna says:

Well, if you go to Outback STEAKHOUSE but are feeling something different than a steak, I could see how you could say there is a limited menu, haha. Outback is my favorite restaurant! It is the only place that gives you a *delicious* steak. It is a bit pricey, but it is totally worth your money. Also, get the Bloomin’ Onion as an appetizer, it is amazing! And remember to order your steaks exactly how you would want it, not how you have to order it rare for it to come out not scorched like at other places, because Outback really knows how to cook a steak!

I don’t consider the menu to be limited. You can look it up online. They have several entrees that are $10, so it doesn’t even have to be expensive. Fuddruckers is for hamburgers, pretty good ones too but you order them at a window then they call your name and you go fetch them. Chilis and Applebees are about the same price and I’ve had good food at each, but the menus are very different. I’m much more likely to find something I want at Applebees. I’m not big on really spicy stuff and I’ve been burned at Chilis, pun intended. Fridays is so crowded and noisy I seldom go there anymore. I like the food at Outback the best.

    Forget those other places!
Let me just say : Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp and the Rack of Lamb in Cabernet Sauce is to die for! (Unless you don’t like shrimp or lamb, then the Alice Springs Chicken is excellent.)

Thanks a lot for this question, I am now drooling and the nearest Outback is an hour away.

  21. Spencer says:

Outback is expensive, but OMG its amazing!!!
The food is amazing, and just the general service and atmosphere!

    You’ll love it!
    its worth it!

    FOOOOOOOOOOOODDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. jjc927 says:

Outback is good and not overly expensive although it’s not that good at all nutritionally if that’s a concern. Their menu isn’t that limited from what I remember. You should try Fuddruckers sometime since their burgers are excellent. Personally I’m not a big fan of Chili’s like your other choices. They have a limited menu and quite a few things on it are not worth the price.

  24. Eich says:

I’d say Applebee’s (it is not another Chili’s) or Outback (only because I never seem to get to Outback).

Both places are great ones to eat at according to people we know: us / Applebee’s – Outback / friends.

  25. Karamazov says:

Try it once , and see if you like it. It is very pricy, I’d rather buy a porterhouse for 8 bucks from the grocery store . Be prepared for much higher prices than the other restaurants you listed.
